2 Preschool Classrooms

Linder Learning Land has two and sometimes three separate Preschool classrooms. Not agreeing with the Texas regulation that allows an eighteen month age span in one classroom, LLL divides our younger and older preschoolers.

Early Preschool - 2 to 3 Years Old

The younger preschool classroom is for children who are barely 3 years old, having just turned 3 during the late summer months before September 1^st ( the day that the Texas public schools have chosen to determine grade placement).

Preschool is when what are thought of as "traditional" academics are started. Yes, LLL is advanced in its academic teaching. Parents will continue to receive their Family Newsletter.

The monthly thematic units of the Terrific Three's level of the award-winning High Reach Learning curriculum series in the younger preschool classes integrates mathematics and reading while focusing on:

Phonemic awareness and letter recognition
Awareness of print and early reading concepts
Number recognition and early math concepts

Of course, all the other components of your child's day (music, singing, dancing, and indoor and outside play) will continue.

Your child will also start participating in Linder Learning Land's own separate classes of Arts and Crafts and Motion and Movement.

Preschool - 3 Years Old

Linder Learning Land's older preschool classroom is for children who turn four years of age just after September 1^st, so they are the older three's. Most of the children in this class turn four during the fall months.

Advanced Learning

The preschool class is taught utilizing the Butterflies level of the award-winning High Reach Learning curriculum series which is the prekindergarten, or four year old, level. Teaching groups are formed and the teachers rotate the children depending upon the subject or activity and children are encouraged to participate. Of course if a child is not quite ready, he will receive special attention and reassurance until he feels comfortable.

Remember: Linder Learning Land strongly believes that if a child likes school, then he or she will be successful, regardless of his/her academic abilities. Self-esteem is a primary concern at all times.

Unique in its room arrangement, the older preschool class utilizes two separate but attached classrooms. One classroom is arranged with learning centers and the other classroom is arranged more like a traditional classroom.

LLL encourages your child to learn through a balance of exploration play and more traditional teacher-directed activities. By having two different classrooms, your child will start the transformation from a more "play school" environment to a classroom environment.

Your child will learn:

Phonemic sounds and letter recognition
Early reading concepts
Number recognition
Science
Social Studies
Critical thinking skills such as predicting, recalling events and sequencing
Spatial conception
Symbols
Beginning writing skills
Math concept such as sorting, classification, measuring, simple problem solving

Your preschool-age child will also begin participating in LLL's Spanish class and will continue to be part of our Arts and Crafts class and our Movement and Motion class.

Monthly Family Newsletter

You will receive a family newsletter explaining what your child is learning and doing during a particular month. High Reach Learning is taught thematically, so each month there is a theme such as:

The Forest
Farm Animals
The Circus
The Ocean
Many Others

You will also learn about volunteer opportunities and books to share. The newsletter also has such goodies as The Recipe of the Month and the words and movements to the songs and finger plays your child will be performing and singing.
